This new single cultivar Damu from Kadavu Fiji is a very strong and slow burner. It's such a slow burner, we thought it wasn't that strong. I was very tempted to have more than my normal amount when I think a kava is strong, because the effects were very nice and relaxing. I'm glad I didn't! About 45 minutes or so wen't by and it had me happy, smiling and ultra chill. If you're not planning on going anywhere for awhile and want to have a great time, this kava may be fore you.

It's important to note that each of our kava experiences will vary. Something that is strong for me might not be for you quite yet due to personal physiology, if you ate recently or reverse tolerance hasn't kicked in quite yet. That said, if something is strong for us, it may also be way stronger than you were expecting. So please take each kava review you get from us or anyone else as personal opinion. After you try our kava, especilly if you have a fantastic experience. We would love if you gave it a review! The more people try it and review, the better decisions people will be able to make in the future. Bula!

 About this Kava:

We sourced this 100% Noble waka kava from the island of Kadavu in Fiji. This high quality noble Kava is selected from plants at least 5 years in age that have been organically grown on the island of Kadavu.

The Fijian WAKA (100% Lateral Root) Kava powder, is derived from the smaller roots that extend from the main root-stock. These roots are higher in Kavalactones.

Batch 3 CHEMOTYPE: 462315

Batch 3 TOTAL KAVALACTONE: 7.73%

Kavain/DHM Ratio: 2.7

About the Farmer:

The kava farmers name is Alosio Naduva and his family. Alasio Sovita Naduva "Mr Nitro" plays as a winger in the Fiji national rugby sevens team. He helped the Fiji Sevens side to win their fourth World Rugby Sevens Series in the 2018-19 season. He and his family have been farming kava on a few islands in Fiji for quite some time now. Look for him on Fiji's Rugby team in the upcoming Olympics!

Directions:

Made as single serving: 50g in 20oz water. Blended for 4 min, strained.

Made by the gallon: 100 to 130g. 1 gallon of room temperature water in a large bowl, bucket or a traditional tanoa bowl. Add water to the vessel. Add kava to a nut bag or cheese cloth and dip the bag into the water. Massage for about 15 to 20 minutes or until you've reached your desired potency. This will yield a much weaker kava for the purpose of sharing multiple cups with friends in longer sessions. Serve in coconut shells, glasses or store in a gallon jug chilled. Shake jug before serving.

Note: Add 20% of the gallon of water or 4oz in your single serving of 20oz as coconut milk for a tastier end result.

Damu Fiji Kava

One of the most medicinal kavas I’ve ever come across. This kava leans heavy and kicks in slowly but the effects linger for a few hours where many kavas effects burn out quicker. The grind on this kava is fine and it has a nice fresh smell upon opening the bag. This kava truly feels like your sitting next to a warm campfire. Its gentle yet powerful… it’s the perfect night time kava.

First time trying Kava

Very impressed, wonderful taste and feel. Strong mouth numbing before a light sense of euphoria and sedation, but you won't lose motor control. I've enjoyed it every time, although the preparation is something to get used to.

Glad youre loving the kadavu! Yeah the prep process is a bit to get used to for sure. You can also make a large batch and freeze it in ice cube trays. They hold 16oz so its great for portioning and the effects dont degrade while frozen.

Start my day off right

I'm very pleased with my new kava find. Great customer service too! Going to reorder more for sure. Hopefully it's still in stock. 2 giant heaping teaspoons and a good squeeze and I am good to go.

Kelai kava

Very potent kava, tried another kava from amother vendor that dont works for me. This one works at the first time, very heady nice Quality.

Thank you Mark! So glad you're loving our kelai kava!

Kelai Kava

Very happy with the quality and consistency of your Kelai Kava. Will be ordering more in the near future. Still learning about the difference of Kava from Island locations. Very interesting.
Would love to get some promo coupons.
Thanks, Jim Dolan

Thank you for the kind words James! So hkad you're loving the kava. The subscription service is the best discount available. Knocks down the price quite a bit. It's a service our customers provide us. It gives us a heads up on how much extra kava to buy and makes forecasting demand too easy. In exchange we give our customers a 15% discount. With the 1kg pricing, that makes our pricing one of the most reasonable out there while maintaining super high quality, testing etc.

Don't feel a thing!

Mixed 6 batches so far. Traditional method & blender with whole milk. Started with 3 heaping teaspoons upping it to 10. Will up again and hope I get some relaxation!.

Hey Chris,

First, thank you very much for your orders!

I believe I see the issue with your kava sessions based on your review. Managing anxiety is for the birds and kava helps quite a bit so I hope this info is helpful.

From what you said you've been using 3 to 10 teaspoons. You should be using tablespoons. Each tablespoon is equal to 3 teaspoons. I use 4 tablespoons for my recipe, so that's about 12 teaspoons. 5 to 6 for beginners isn't out of the question either.

Kava has reverse tolerance. Meaning you'll not feel it as much in the beginning and need to use more root. When u get used to it u need less for the same effects.

My recipe is 32 grams of Kava to 20oz or 600ml water (or other liquid mix). Blend on medium high to high in intervals for 4 minutes. Strain well. Cool. It should be pretty warm when it's done. Then drink.

This is about 4 servings of a pretty strong brew. 32g is about 4 tablespoons. So if you use 5 to 6, u should be good.

There's a guy I talked to recently that's been using 50 to 72 grams. That would floor me now but it's about what I did (50) when I started.

I very much hope this works for you! You bought some of the strongest root out there (temotu purple and kelai) and the damu has a bit of a delayed effect.

Bula!

Art of Kava

Excellent every time

This is my favorite.. great euphoria.. I've ordered a pound twice

Temo Purple

An amazing Kava.
I've never had kava distribute so many different effects in one setting.. first it seem to come on pretty heavy and then a little sedation. Followed by great euphoria and some energy.. what an amazing Kava.. only second in my book to the Vanuatu Kelai.
